Paul

Paul Lewis

Paul commenced in the role of CEO on 1 November 2019 and is also a Director on the CUA Board. He first joined CUA in February 2018 as Chief Sales Officer with responsibility for leading CUA’s sales channels, including branches, CUA Direct call centres in Sydney and Melbourne, the broker channel, insurance partnerships, and the award winning iM CUA digital banker proposition. In addition to sales and service, Paul was responsible for ensuring strategic projects were effectively rolled out and embedded across the retail network to deliver positive outcomes for members and CUA’s frontline teams.

With over 17 years’ experience in leadership positions, Paul has held numerous retail banking executive roles in Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia.

Prior to joining CUA, Paul was the Senior Head of Strategy and Transformation at Westpac, where his role included leading the planning and delivery of Westpac’s distribution strategy, including the footprint and branch concepts for the retail network. Paul has also held a variety of senior executive roles within ANZ in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia, including three years as General Manager of the ANZ Australian Retail Branch Network. In this role, Paul was responsible for leading more than 800 branches and 7,000 employees before being seconded to Malaysia for two years as the Managing Director, Retail Banking for AmBank.

Paul’s professional qualifications include being a graduate of the Senior Executive Management Program at the London Business School and an MBA from Massey University.

Paul was attracted to CUA by its proud history of community ownership and innovation. He values the fact CUA is owned by its members and decisions are made to benefit members.

He is Chairman of Credicorp Finance Pty Ltd, a Director of CUA Health Ltd, Credicorp Insurance Pty Ltd and CUA Management Pty Ltd. Paul is also a Director of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals Ltd and a Foundation Board member of Sacré Coeur, an independent Catholic girls’ school, where he currently serves as Chair of the Allocations and Investments Sub-committee.

Outside of CUA, Paul spends his weekends training or competing in 50-100km ultra-marathon races with his wife. When they aren’t covering large distances by foot, Paul and his wife love to travel with their three teenage daughters.

Alana Bailey

Alana Bailey

Chief Financial Officer

Alana joined CUA in July 2020 as Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for managing the Group’s accounting, treasury and treasury settlements, regulatory reporting, capital management, tax, and corporate finance practices.

She has extensive experience in financial services garnered over the last two decades in senior positions at Suncorp, with leadership roles in its general insurance, banking and wealth divisions in Australia and New Zealand. During her time at Suncorp, Alana gained broad experience in audit, risk, financial accounting, management accounting, decision support and shared services roles.

In her most recent role as Chief Financial Officer for Corporate Services at Suncorp, Alana led a large team responsible for the general ledger system and processes, statutory and regulatory reporting, performance management, taxation, investment operations and risk and governance.

Prior to this, her previous roles at Suncorp included the Chief Financial Officer for Suncorp’s Banking and Wealth division, the Executive General Manager of Internal Audit, and Chief Financial Officer of Vero, a Suncorp general insurance subsidiary based in New Zealand.

Alana holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Southern Queensland and is a Chartered Accountant and Graduate of the Institute of Company Directors.

Alana was attracted to CUA by its genuine and passionate desire to help both its customers and staff enrich their lives. She is excited about making a difference and being part of a team that is creating a strong and sustainable organisation.

Outside of CUA, Alana enjoys travelling with her husband and three children, the company of family and friends, weekend soccer games and (very) amateur photography. She is an avid reader about all manner of topics but, although books overrun her house, is yet to make the move to their digital equivalents.

Steve

Steve Chugg

Steve joined CUA in April 2015. He leads the division that drives CUA’s operations, as well as being responsible for strategy, transformation, managing CUA’s current strategic partnerships and exploring new opportunities to collaborate or partner on future innovations. This includes responsibility for CUA subsidiaries CUA Health and Credicorp.

Steve has more than 20 years’ experience in banking operations in Australia. He has extensive experience in building teams and working with them to deliver positive customer outcomes and strong returns. He has held a variety of executive and management roles with ANZ across multiple customer segments including General Manager for Esanda & ANZ Direct Sales, and Queensland State Manager for Regional Business Banking.

Steve’s previous roles have involved understanding and meeting the needs of a diverse range of customers such as third party dealers, agricultural and commercial clients, corporate and retail customers.

He is Managing Director of CUA Health Ltd and Credicorp Insurance Pty Ltd, and a director of Mutual Marketplace Pty Ltd and Mutual Marketplace Property Pty Ltd. Steve is also a director of the Customer Owned Banking Association (COBA).

Steve was attracted by CUA being a member-owned organisation with the aspiration and strategy to adapt to our fast-paced world. He views CUA as a financial service provider that crosses the generational divide – one that both his parents and children would be proud to be part of.

Outside of CUA, Steve is kept busy by his three sons and volunteers regularly as a basketball coach at the local PCYC. Steve also enjoys international travel with his wife and boys to gain new perspectives and enjoy some family fun. Steve keeps fit by cycling with a like-minded group of cycling enthusiasts from across CUA.

Megan K

Megan Keleher

Chief Customer Officer

Megan joined CUA in January 2019 and is responsible for building an end-to-end view of our CUA member experience. Megan leads the division responsible for the Sales and Marketing functions. This includes CUA’s channels (digital, branch, CUA Direct, iM CUA app and broker relationships), insurance partnerships, product, member experience, marketing, sponsorship, corporate communications and our community strategy, focused on building the financial wellbeing of our members and the communities around them.

Megan has 20 years’ experience in business strategy and strategic marketing across a broad range of industries including IT, telecommunications, media and finance. Prior to joining CUA, Megan was the Vice President of Strategy, Marketing & Change Management at Fujitsu (Oceania) where she led the organisation’s strategy, brand, marketing, public affairs and product management within the region.

She has experience as an executive coach and has also held senior marketing roles at APN News and Media, Infosys, Foxtel and Telstra.

Megan is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the general managers’ program at the Australian Graduate School of Management. She is currently a Director of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and a member of the Griffith Business School Strategic Advisory Board.

Megan noted that since joining CUA, she had been impressed by how team members all lived and breathed CUA’s Purpose and member-centric approach, something she’d not experienced in other organisations.

In her free time Megan is an avid reader, loves the beach and enjoys spending time with her family and friends, including her husband and two children.

Tracey

Tracey Lake

Chief People Officer

Tracey joined CUA in March 2017 and is responsible for leading the CUA People and Culture strategy to build future capability and drive a high-performing, networked organisation. Her team looks after the delivery of People and Culture services and initiatives including enterprise change, organisational development and capability, performance management, culture and engagement, diversity, talent acquisition, remuneration and benefits, workplace relations, workplace health, safety and well-being.

Tracey has 14 years’ experience as a human resources executive, with a breadth of human resources and leadership experience including roles at Allianz Global Assistance, Insurance Australia Group, CGU Insurance and The Consultancy Bureau. Tracey’s experience covers both strategic and operational aspects of human resources including recruitment, talent management, change management, learning and development, employee engagement, OH&S, restructures and integrations.

In her most recent role prior to joining CUA, Tracey was Executive General Manager for People, Culture & Community and Strategic Projects at Allianz Global Assistance, playing an integral role in contributing to the strategic plan and operational performance of the business.

Tracey is a member of Australian Human Resource Institute and in 2018 she became a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company of Directors.

CUA’s strong values and desire to give back to members attracted Tracey to CUA. She believes CUA offers a rewarding and energising work environment as a result of a continued focus on innovation to engage and serve members.

Outside of CUA, Tracey is mum to two children and has two Border Collies. In her spare time, she enjoys playing sport as well as running, cycling, triathlons and 12 Round Functional Fitness. Tracey showed her dedication to the community in late 2017 when she completed a 3-day charity cycling event to western Queensland with Girls Got Heart. As well as raising much needed funds, the event raised awareness for critical health screening checks for residents living in remote parts of Australia.

Megan

Megan Readdy

Chief Risk Officer

Megan joined CUA in February 2017 and leads the development, implementation, challenge and assurance of CUA’s risk management strategy. The Risk team’s focus is to proactively drive a culture of best practice risk management.

Megan is an experienced risk and finance professional with more than 20 years’ experience. Megan began her career in lending and prior to joining CUA, she worked across a number of diverse roles within financial services, including with Macquarie Group and Suncorp Bank.

She has held executive positions responsible for credit risk and credit policy, the management of capital, performance management and forecasting, business performance and enterprise-wide risk management initiatives associated with the Basel regulatory framework and prudential banking standards.

Megan is currently the Treasurer of the Risk Management Association of Australia - a post she has held since 2014.

Megan is an enthusiastic advocate for CUA’s role in the community.

Outside of CUA, Megan spends her time with her family and two dogs. Typically, you can find Megan volunteering at her daughter’s local netball association on umpiring and committee duties. With two sporty children, Megan and her husband spend much of their weekends running an unpaid shuttle service!

Steven

Steven Willson

Chief Technology Officer

Steven joined CUA in August 2018 and is responsible for the development and implementation of CUA’s technology strategy.

Steven is an experienced technology executive with 15 years’ experience in technology leadership positions in the United Kingdom and Australia. Prior to joining CUA, Steven was the Chief Technology Officer at Wolters Kluwer Australia where the role included the planning, delivery and operation of cloud tax and accounting solutions for global corporations and businesses across Asia Pacific.

Steven has deep experience in financial services technology including digital transformation, IT strategy and complex systems implementation. Steven has also held a variety of senior executive roles within AMP including IT Director for AMP Capital, IT Director Strategy and Architecture, IT Director Customer Transformation and Chief Technology Officer.

Steven’s professional qualifications include completion of the Centre Information Systems Research (CISR) summer program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Steven was attracted to CUA by the team’s passionate commitment to helping members and a strong track record in digital innovation that truly benefits members.

Outside of work, Steven enjoys spending family time with his three kids and occasionally venturing out for a cycle, ride or swim.
